BHAROSA SAVINGS ACCOUNT by Airtel payments bank as a part of Financial Inclusion


Airtel Payments Bank has launched 'Bharosa savings account' which enables customers to withdraw cash, check their balance or access a mini statement of their account at over 6,50,000 Aadhaar-enabled payment system (AePS) enabled outlets across India. These services have been designed for deepening financial inclusion in the country. "The benefits of this product will be further amplified through a structured roadway for phased introduction of other features linked to formal banking. To begin with, it will be available at over a quarter million banking points. 

1) Bharosa savings account customers can also withdraw cash, check their balance or access a mini statement of their account at over 6,50,000 AePS (Aadhaar-enabled payment system) enabled outlets across India," the company said in a statement.

2) Along with convenient banking services, Bharosa savings account offers ₹5 lakh personal accident insurance on maintaining balance of ₹500.

3) Airtel Payments Bank Bharosa Savings Account will allow you minimum one debit transaction per month.

4) Customers would also be eligible for cashback, if they decide to receive government subsidies in their Bharosa account or if they make cash deposits in it, the company said in a statement.

5) Airtel Payments Bank offers digital banking services through a network of 5,00,000 neighbourhood banking points spread across India.

What are payment banks?

According to the Reserve Bank of India guidelines for licensing of payments banks, the main objective of a payments bank is to enhance financial inclusion. This is expected to be done by providing small savings accounts. In August 2015, RBI had given in-principle approval to 11 entities to start payments bank in India, which included the department of posts. Airtel Payments Bank was the first one to launch it.

Scheme to support and protect the women in distress (SWADHAR GREH)


The Ministry of Women and Child Development is implementing the Swadhar Greh Scheme which targets the women victims of difficult circumstances who are in need of institutional support for rehabilitation so that they could lead their life with dignity. The Scheme envisages providing shelter, food, clothing and health as well as economic and social security for these women.

Obejctives:

Under the Scheme, Swadhar Greh will be set up in every district with capacity of 30 women with the following objectives:

To cater to the primary need of shelter, food, clothing, medical treatment and care of the women in distress and who are without any social and economic support.
To enable them to regain their emotional strength that gets hampered due to their encounter with unfortunate circumstances.
To provide them with legal aid and guidance to enable them to take steps for their readjustment in family/society.
To rehabilitate them economically and emotionally.
To act as a support system that understands and meets various requirements of women in distress.
To enable them to start their life afresh with dignity and conviction.

STRATEGIES

The objectives cited above would be pursued adopting the following strategies:

Temporary residential accommodation with the provision of food, clothing, medical facilities etc.
Vocational and skill up gradation trainings for economic rehabilitation of such women
Counseling, awareness generation and behavioral trainings
Legal aid and Guidance
Counseling through telephone
BENEFICIARIES

The benefit of the component could be availed by women above 18 years of age of the following categories:

Women who are deserted and are without any social and economic support;
Women survivors of natural disasters who have been rendered homeless and are without any social and economic support;
Women prisoners released from jail and are without family, social and economic support;
Women victims of domestic violence, family tension or discord, who are made to leave their homes without any means of subsistence and have no special protection from exploitation and/ or facing litigation on account of marital disputes; and
Trafficked women/girls rescued or runaway from brothels or other places where they face exploitation and Women affected by HIV/AIDS who do not have any social or economic support. However such women/ girls should first seek assistance under UJJAWALA Scheme in areas where it is in operation.
Women affected by domestic violence could stay up to one year. For other categories of women, the maximum period of stay could be up to 3 years. The older women above the 55 years of age may be accommodated for maximum period of 5 years after which they will have to shift to old age homes or similar institutions.

Swadhar Greh facilities could also be availed by the children accompanying women in the above categories. Girls up to the age of 18 years and boys up to the age of 8 years would be allowed to stay in the Swadhar Greh with their mothers. (Boys of more than 8 years of age need to be shifted to the Children Homes run under JJ Act/ICPS.)

LPG GAS CONNECTION SCHEME TO FAMILIES (Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana)


  • Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) aims to safeguard the health of women & children by providing them with a clean cooking fuel – LPG, so that they don’t have to compromise their health in smoky kitchens or wander in unsafe areas collecting firewood.

  • Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana was launched by Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi on May 1st, 2016 in Ballia, Uttar Pradesh. Under this scheme, 5 Cr LPG connections will be provided to BPL families with a support of Rs.1600 per connection in the next 3 years. Ensuring women’s empowerment, especially in rural India, the connections will be issued in the name of women of the households. Rs. 8000 Cr. has been allocated towards the implementation of the scheme. Identification of the BPL families will be done through Socio Economic Caste Census Data.

  • PMUY is likely to result in an additional employment of around 1 Lakh and provide business opportunity of at least Rs. 10,000 Cr. over the next 3 Years to the Indian Industry. Launch of this scheme will also provide a great boost to the ‘Make in India’ campaign as all the manufacturers of cylinders, gas stoves, regulators, and gas hose are domestic.

  • The launch of PMUY in Ballia was followed by launch of the scheme in Dahod in  Gujarat by Petroleum Minister Shri Dharmendra Pradhan & BJP President Shri Amit Shah. PMUY has also been launched in several districts in UP & Bihar.

  • HOW TO APPLY:

  • A woman of the BPL household, may apply for a new LPG connection (in the prescribed format) to the nearest LPG distributor.

  • • While submitting the application form, the woman needs to submit detailed address, Jandhan Bank Account and Aadhar number of all members of the household.

  • • The connection will be issued by the Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) to the eligible beneficiaries after processing the application.

  • • In case the consumer opts for EMI, the EMI amount will be adjusted against the subsidy amount due to the consumer on each refill.
